The ultimate guide to Unify Gathering
We’re on the home stretch now, and the countdown to this year’s Unify Gathering is on. With some of Australia’s best rock bands heading to Tarwin Lower in Victoria this March – now is the time to get yourself sorted. Here’s our ultimate guide to Unify Gathering!
There is no better place to start when prepping for your Unify weekend than with the set times. The best part about Unify Gathering is that there is only one stage – so that means, no clashes.
The basics:
When: Thursday 10 March until Sunday 13 March 2022
Where: Tarwin Lower, South Gippsland VIC
Tickets: On sale now via Ticketmaster.com.au
First up, the set times!
Still, you’re going to want to take the business of planning out your weekend seriously – that way you know when you’ve got time to hang in the campsite, grab some food, or go and track down your mates.
Whether you’re saving it in your phone or printing it out to hang in your tent – make sure you check out the set times.
What to pack:
Before you make the drive out to Tarwin Lower, make sure you’ve packed to endure the crowds, stay comfortable on your feet, and packed the essentials to get you through the weekend’s unpredictable weather.
Here are Unify’s top ten tips to help you pack for the best weekend of the year:
Bring your ticket and ID:
This one seems like a no brainer – but once you’ve driven for a few hours, parked your car, and unloaded your bags, that is not the time you want to realise you don’t have your wallet. So make sure it’s the first thing you load into your bag.
As for your ticket – all tickets purchased through Ticketmaster are digital, so make sure you’ve got the TM app downloaded to your phone (grab it here if you don’t) and save your ticket into your phone wallet. While you’re at it, forward all your mates’ tickets to their Ticketmaster accounts too (more on Ticket Forward here), that way everyone is ready to go.
Choose the right bag:
However you arrive to the Unify festival site, you will have to carry your things a distance to where you camp – and the terrain isn’t always smooth. You won’t want to lug a large heavy suitcase or sling 5 smaller bags over your shoulder, instead pick something sturdy and easy to carry or wheel around.
Prepare for all weather:
Unify weekend is quite known for its unpredictable weather – ask anyone who has been. But that is all part of the experience. The best way to enjoy it is to pack accordingly – rain or shine, be prepared for the elements.
Your campsite is your home, so make sure you’re all set with a tent, sleeping bag, pillow, and roll mat – even better if you avoid buying cheap disposable items, that way you can use it for many Unify weekends to come.
Get the group chat going:
Chat with your mates and make a plan for who is bringing what. Only bring the things you need and ensure you can take it all home – share resources like eskies, tents, tables, gazebos, etc.
Remove unnecessary packaging:
Only take what you need to the festival. Create space and toss/recycle any packaging that you’ll ultimately end up getting rid of. Of course you can bring food, drinks, and the essentials – but leave all the extra packaging at home.
Don’t forget your reusable water bottle:
Staying hydrated is a must on festival weekend, so you’ll definitely need water – and the best way to ensure you’ve got some handy at all times is by bringing your own refillable bottle. There are dozens of taps spread across festival site! Double points if you also bring a reusable cup or mug for your morning cuppa.
Dress for the elements:
Earlier we mentioned how unpredictable the weather can be, and while that’s important for your camping supplies, it is doubly important for your clothing. Victorian weather is unpredictable, so make sure you’ve packed a warm jumper or two (especially for the night time). A rain jacket and thick socks are also useful to keep your gumboots from rubbing when it starts tipping down. On the other hand, bring shorts and a hat for those bright and sunny days. You’ll thank us later.
Don’t forget your essentials – toiletries and meds:
Deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, sunscreen, etc. These items will keep you feeling fresh throughout the weekend. Luckily, if you do forget any of the essentials you can visit the corner store to purchase anything you’ve forgotten.
Lights up – bring a torch:
Probably best to get a head torch. Go hands-free while roaming around your tent or making your way to the silent disco! There will be lights in the campsite, but we recommend you light your own path.
Leave the rest at home:
- Apart from the obvious illegal things, you CANNOT bring:
- Covid-19
- Glass of any kind (bottles, jars etc)
- Gas Bottles, BBQs or cooking devices of any kind (Triangas, nitros bulbs etc)
- Dogs or pets of any kind, unfortunately
- Generators
- Fireworks or Flares
- Fire Sticks & Poy
- Kegs of any kind
- NO Candles, campfires or fires of any kind
- NO Handheld lasers
- NO Selfie sticks
- NO Illicit Drugs
- NO Drones
- NO Couches
- NO Weapons of any kind (we don’t actually need to list that, do we?)
- and MOST of all no bad vibes or arrogant attitudes!
How to get there:
Unify Gathering is located in the very beautiful South Gippsland, Victoria. A stunning 2.5 hour drive from Melbourne. You can find the map here or simply type ‘Unify Gathering’ into your maps app and it’ll navigate you there.
Instead of loading yourself and a mate into the car, think about how many extra seats you have and see if any other friends need a lift. Take one car instead of two! Do your bit for the environment and reduce the number of cars on the road, parking congestion, and carbon emissions.
All vehicles entering and parking at the festival site need to have a car pass, 1 per vehicle. The funds from the car pass help to offset festival travel through tree planting on the festival site. In 2019, proceeds from the car pass helped to purchase and plant 2000 trees at UNIFY.
Where to camp:
There are three main camping options available for your Unify weekend – each offering a slightly different experience depending on how you want your weekend to unfold.
The Jungle
The Jungle is the biggest/main camping area for the festival, and it’s where you’ll find the majority of punters. All tickets permit entry into the UNIFY festival camping area from 8am Friday. Here you can camp amongst friends, make some new ones, and take in all the splendour and fun that is a Unify weekend.
The Sanctuary
This isn’t to say that the rest of the campsite isn’t a Sanctuary, this is merely an area for everyone that is keen to enjoy some extra shut-eye during the night, who like to be in an alcohol-free camping area, or who need to have an uninterrupted recharge of the body batteries before tackling the drive home on Sunday. Whatever your reason, we wanted to give you an alternative. UNIFY Gathering reserves the right to eject those disturbing the peace without readmission or refund.
Nottingham
Want to amp up your camping experience? You better check out the pre-pitched camping options that are available in Nottingham! You’ll be greeted by the ever-friendly UNIFY reception team who will check you in and show you to your tent on arrival. The location of Nottingham camp is super close to the arena, winning! There’s no better way to enjoy the heaviest festival of the year than to experience the many benefits and amenities that Nottingham has to offer.
Those are our top tips for prepping your Unify weekend. Now the rest is up to you. Grab your tickets, pack your bags, and we’ll see you for a boogie!
Unify Gathering 2022 will return to Tarwin Lower, Victoria from Thursday 10 March to Sunday 13 March 2022. Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster.com.au
