Tim Minchin announces ‘Apart Together, The Album’ livestream concert
He'll be playing his new album in full
To celebrate the release of his debut album Apart Together this November, Australian musician, comedian, actor and writer Tim Minchin has announced a one-off livestream concert.
Taking place at Sydney’s iconic Trackdown Studios, the night will see Minchin perform the album’s 11 tracks in full for the first time alongside a host of extraordinary guest musicians. And as we’ve come to expect from every Minchin show, whatever pours out of his brain in between is all part of the fun.

Following his career in musical comedy, Minchin semi-retired from touring after his 2010/11 international tour, moving to Los Angeles to focus on acting, writing, and stage shows. After moving back to Australia, Minchin took on his first tours of Australia, New Zealand and the UK in eight years across 2019 and 2020 called Back. Selling out entire runs in record-breaking time and receiving rave audience reviews the award-winning artist was…well…back.
“I’ve been thinking a lot about how to make live entertainment in this no-live-entertainment world, and – as always – how to make a virtue of the restrictions placed on us as artists. And I’ve concluded that we have a fantastic opportunity to make a new style of live concerts,” Minchin says of the upcoming performance
“I want to bring the audience into the room with us. I want the viewer to feel like they have been invited into the studio to watch the final dress rehearsal for a concert, and have been given permission to stand in amongst the band, to sit down next to me, to be completely inside the experience.”
The album contains four songs fans would have gotten to know during the Back tour; ‘If This Plane Goes Down’, ‘Leaving LA’, ‘I’ll Take Lonely Tonight’ and ‘Carry You’, which was written for the TV series Upright that Minchin starred in, co-wrote, and co-directed.
Minchin will also be raising money in support of AusMusic T-Shirt Day during the livestream, with all proceeds going to music industry charity, Support Act. You can read more about AusMusic T-Shirt Day here.
Tim Minchin will perform his debut album Together Apart in full on Thursday 19 November @ 7pm AEST. Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster.com.au.
