Week one of the 2020 AFL Finals fixture is locked in

It's finals time!

The AFL has now confirmed the details of Week 1 of the 2020 AFL Finals Series.

After a season like no other, the top 8 are locked in, and the Finals are here.

Port Adelaide managed to clinch the minor Premiership on Monday night, as well as a home final, while Brisbane Lions, Richmond and Geelong round out those with a double chance.

West Coast and St Kilda also locked away home finals in Week 1, with the Western Bulldogs and Collingwood rounding out the top 8 contenders.

This year’s Finals series, much like the entire season, will look different. Played entirely in October, matches will be held in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.

Week 1 AFL Finals fixture

Thursday 1 October – First Qualifying Final

The opening clash of the 2020 AFL Finals will see Port Adelaide face Geelong, at Adelaide Oval on Thursday 1 October at 7.10pm CST.

Friday 2 October – Second Qualifying Final

The second clash of the week takes us to Queensland, the ‘new home of footy’. The Gabba will host the first of its two matches on Friday 2 October, as the Brisbane Lions take on reigning premiers Richmond.

Both sides have been unstoppable in Queensland, and especially The Gabba this season, setting up a mouth-watering encounter, where one powerhouse will inevitably fall.

Can the Lions crowd get their side home as they hunt their first Premiership since 2003? It all starts at 7.50pm AEST on Friday 2 October.

Saturday 3 October – Second Elimination Final

The Saturday 3 October fixtures begins with two Victorian sides taking to The Gabba in the afternoon, as St Kilda battle the Western Bulldogs, starting at 4.40pm AEST.

Playing in their first Final in nine years, St Kilda fans have waited a long time to taste success again. Can they knock over one of the competition’s premier midfield’s in this do-or-die clash? Only time will tell.

Saturday 3 October – First Elimination Final

The first week of the Finals is rounded out on Saturday 3 October as we head to Perth. West Coast Eagles will face Collingwood in the 2018 Grand Final rematch at Optus Stadium, beginning at 6.10pm WST.

Just scraping into the 8, the Pies have a point to prove, not least revenge on the Eagles Premiership victory two years ago. This one is going to be tense.
