Are you a fan of horse racing? Well, we have some news for you. Victoria Racing Club (VRC) have chosen an exclusive few destinations across the world to host the 18-carat-gold Lexus Melbourne Cup trophy.

What is the Lexus Melbourne Cup tour?

Now in its 22nd year, the tour has travelled over one million kilometres around the world! They have visited more than 640 destinations to unite communities and provide the once-in-life-time opportunity to get up close and experience the magic of the People’s Cup.

This year the tour has received a record number of applications proving the want to be part of this memorable journey.

VRC Chairman Neil Wilson noted when the tour was announced

This year’s tour will also visit a number of international destinations including New York for the Belmont Gold Cup which will offer a golden ticket to the winner into this year’s Lexus Melbourne Cup for the first time, further emphasising the internationalisation and reach of our iconic race.”

Where is it going to be in the world?

As part of the journey the People’s Cup will travel far and wide across Australia. Likewise, after making its way to New York and Japan, the cup arrives in the following locations in the coming months:

It arrives back in Melbourne for the highly-anticipated Melbourne Cup Carnival from 2 to 9 November 2024.

What to expect at the Melbourne Cup Carnival?


This is not just a regular race week. Your ticket to Melbourne Cup carnival invites you into a world of entertainment, fashion and food delights. The Carnival Cup includes four race days: Penfolds Victoria Derby Day, Lexus Melbourne Cup Day, VRC Oaks Day, and TAB Champions Stakes Day.

With your ticket you get free entry into The Park, a kaleidoscope of fun, fashion, food and entertainment! See live music performances on The Live Stage,  watch the fashion catwalk or you can enter the iconic Fashions on the Field competition, indulge in some of Melbourne’s best food pop-ups and enjoy drinks at one of the alfresco bars.

The Melbourne Cup Carnival reaches its highest point on the first Tuesday of November with the $8.5 million Lexus Melbourne Cup known as ‘the race that stops a nation™’.
