2024 Adelaide International Preview

As the tennis world gears up for the highly anticipated Australian Open, all eyes turn to the Adelaide International.

With a younger field confirmed to play it’s a good chance to get a glimpse of which up and coming stars can take the next step in 2024.

This year’s tournament will be played at the newly renovated ‘The Drive’. Fans will be able to enjoy live music, entertainment, bars, food trucks and premium experiences at The Drive’s new facilities.

Aussie Hopes

Former champion and hometown hero Thanasi Kokkinakis returns. He will be joined by fellow Australians, Alexei Popyrin and Alja Tomljanovic. After a long injury layoff, fans will be hoping to see Tomljanovic return to the form that saw her rise up the WTA rankings in late 2022. Popyrin will be looking to back up his strong performance at this year’s tournament, where he made the quarter finals.

International Stars

World No.4 Elena Rybakina and 2022 Adelaide International finalist (where she was runner up to Ash Barty) will return. The 21-year-old played in the double’s final in the Adelaide International 2 earlier this year before going on to reach the singles final at the Australian Open. Rybakina will be joined by world No.15 Qinwen Zheng and world No.20 Caroline Garcia.

On the men’s side, tennis fans will be keen to see if world ranked No.24 Sebastian Korda can go one better in 2024. Korda reached the singles final of the Adelaide International 2023 during the first week. He was another who was impacted by injury during 2023 and will be hoping to return to his pre-injury form. Jack Draper returns and will aim to go one better than his semifinals performance earlier this year.
