Behind The Scenes

Go behind the scenes with The Boy From Oz Perth’s cast

Before The Boy From Oz opens at Crown Perth, the cast took us behind the scenes to see how all the magic happens

The time has finally arrived – The Boy From Oz is set to wow audiences at Crown Theatre Perth until early February.

For those unfamiliar, The Boy from Oz tells the story of Australia’s own singer-songwriter, Peter Allen. Discovered by Judy Garland, Allen met and married her daughter Liza Minnelli and went on to enjoy the highs of success by winning an Oscar, selling out performances in Radio City Music Hall, and receiving adulation when he returned to Australia.

The show wouldn’t be complete without its incredible catalogue of songs, including all of Allen’s most-loved and celebrated tunes including ‘I Go To Rio’, ‘I Honestly Love You’, ‘Not The Boy Next Door’, and ‘I Still Call Australia Home’.

Making Perth’s season of The Boy From Oz extra special, taking on the role of Peter Allen – the role which made Todd McKenney and Hugh Jackman famous – is Perth’s own Ethan Jones.

This is the opportunity of a lifetime. I’ve dreamed about playing Peter Allen for years and am absolutely thrilled – and a little daunted – to be following in the footsteps of such luminaries of the stage.

The rest of the cast is just as incredible – featuring a bevy of world-class musical theatre performers including Lucy Williamson as Judy Garland, Elethea Sartorelli as Liza Minnelli, Casey Edwards as Marion Woolnough and Peter Cumins as Greg Connell.
