Grittier and more electrifying than ever before, the world’s best-loved musical Grease The Musical has landed at Perth’s coolest new theatre – The Royale Theatre at Planet Royale in Northbridge.
For those that don’t know the basics, after a whirlwind summer romance, Grease The Musical picks up when leather-clad greaser Danny and girl-next-door Sandy are unexpectedly reunited when she transfers to Rydell High for senior year. From there, the musical follows the pair, alongside their cast of eccentric friends, as they try to survive the trials and tribulations of teenage life and find true love once more.

The show’s Director and Producer Drew Anthony has shared the inside scoop on what fans can expect from Grease The Musical when it lands in Perth – from how the production team have reimagined the show for this unique space (hint: it includes the audience sitting on bleachers ON STAGE!), what you can expect from this very new and very exciting venue, and the amazing Western Australian cast bringing it all together.
Featuring all the hits you know and love including ‘Summer Nights’, ‘Greased Lightnin’, ‘Hopelessly Devoted to You’, and ‘You’re the One That I Want’, as well as the characters you have been friends with for years – Sandy, Danny, Rizzo, Kenickie, and more – it is the talented cast and creative team that make this reimagined, new production of Grease a must see event.
Meet the cast:
Sandy Olsson will be brought to life by Elaina O’Connor who recently starred as Elle Woods in HAMA Productions’ Legally Blonde (Crown Theatre) and has appeared in Heathers, High School Musical, and The Wizard of Oz. While Danny Zuko will be played by John Berry who recently appeared in The Wizard of Oz (Crown Theatre) and as Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid (Regal Theatre), both for HAMA Productions.
The rest of the cast is rounded out by Charlotte Louise as Rizzo, Ricky Anderson as Kenickie, Tabitha Kerlin as Marty, Tate Bennett as Sonny, Kate Sisley as Frenchy, Greg Jarema as Doody, Lisa Michelle as Jan, Koert Van Der Laan as Putzie, Tory Kendrick as Patty Simcox, Elliot Peacock as Eugene, and Sophie Dowsett as Cha Cha. Charlie Darlington and Georgia Unsworth will also feature as onstage understudies.
Across the talented Western Australian cast, their credits include: HAMA Productions’ The Little Mermaid and Legally Blonde, Regal Theatre’s Mamma Mia, Crown Theatre’s The Wizard of Oz, Old Mill’s Little Women, Chess at Perth Concert Hall, and more.
West End musical theatre and cabaret star Lucy Williamson (Crown Theatre’s The Boy From Oz & The Wizard of Oz) will perform as a special guest star in the role of Miss Lynch. Other special guest stars include Peter Cumins (Crown Theatre’s The Boy From Oz) as Teen Angel, and Blake Williams (Crown Theatre’s We Will Rock You, host of Foxtel’s The Scene Music TV) as Vince Fontaine.
