Women’s Semifinals

(2) Aryna Sabalenka vs (4) Coco Gauff

The first semi will be between the two best players in women’s tennis at the moment, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff. Both have been in exceptional form with Sabalenka yet to lose a set and Gauff losing only one. If Gauff can beat Sabalenka and go on to win the Australian Open, she will overtake her as no.2 in the world. Gauff leads the overall h2h 4-2 with their last match up being in the most recent grand slam, the US Open where Gauff came from behind to win in three sets. Sabalenka will want to get one back over Gauff after the US Open loss cost her the chance of finishing 2023 as the year end no.1.

(12) Qinwen Zheng vs (Q) Diyana Yastremska

In a somewhat surprising match up in the second semifinal, Qinwen Zheng will take on Diyana Yastremska. With plenty of seeds dropping out in the early rounds of the tournament, Zheng has still yet to play a seeded player at AO24. Should Zheng win tonight, she will jump to world no.7. Yastremska has been on a magical run at AO24, losing only one set enroute to the semifinal. At just 23 years of age, this can ignite her career to become one of the top players in the women’s game.
