Can you feel the love… for the Lion King?
It seems Australian audiences are just as much in love with the Lion King as they were when it premiered here in 2003. The colourful and spectacular musical has set a record for the most advance sales in Australia and it continues to play to a packed house for every performance at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre.
The incredible attendance is testament to the quality of the production and shows the popularity of the Lion King has not waned despite the production touring Australia previously.
The current season of the Lion King will close at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre on 31 August before opening at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre in February 2015. Ticketmaster has already seen very strong support for the Melbourne run of the Lion King with a large number of fans submitting requests for the waitlist.
Buyi Rama was an original cast member of the 2003-2005 Australian run of the musical and has returned to reprise her role as Rafiki following performances around the world, including on Broadway.
