The Great Australian Podcast Festival will bring Australia’s finest podcasts together this November

Australian podcast heavyweights are set to jump out of your headphones, when The Great Australian Podcast Festival takes over Melbourne’s Palais Theatre this November.

In what is being described as the largest podcasting festival Australia has seen, the brand-new curated event will celebrate all things podcasting, giving you the opportunity to see, hear and meet some of the biggest names in Australian podcasting, live on stage.

We don’t know about you, but as we’ve been moving in and out of lockdown we’ve probably spent more time hanging out with our favourite podcast hosts than anyone else – so the opportunity to get up close and personal is a treat.

You bet The Great Australian Podcast Festival are going all out for their inaugural event. We’re talking comedy A-Listers, top notch advice givers, hot-off-the-press celebrity gossip, and even our number 1 source for all things reality TV.

And this is only the first lineup announcement, with another stack of podcasters set to be announced in the coming weeks.

Get to know the Great Australian Podcast Festival Lineup:

Do Go On with Jess Perkins, Matt Stewart & Dave Warneke

After almost six years, 300 episodes, three overseas tours and millions of downloads; Do Go On has established itself as one of Australia’s most popular comedy podcasts. Each week comedians Jess Perkins, Matt Stewart and Dave Warneke take it in turns to research a topic and bring what they’ve learned back to the others. From Dolly Parton to Charles Manson, Chernobly to Watergate, The New Zealand Fish Terrorist to The History Of The Penis… the Do Go On team continue to seek out interesting stories.

Emsolation with Em Rusciano

Let Em Rusciano speak to you in her soothing tones (NB: Not at all soothing) as she and her best friend Michael Lucas break down the week in news and pop culture. They can swing from Harry’s Styles’ hair, to US politics. From Disney Princesses to global pandemics. So shut out the noise of the world and settle in for pop obsessions, personal confessions, several wild tangents and at least one fit of wheezing laughter.

All Day Breakfast with Matt & Alex

Matt Okine and Alex Dyson serve up your daily omelette of delicious audio content, whenever you feel like eating it. Chunks of news, alongside finely-sliced interviews and the occasional sprig of talkback are all chucked into a bowl of expertly whisked comedy, before being poured into the frying pan of your ears.

Mid Flight Brawl with Nick Cody & Luke Heggie

Any tip rat can fly now. Here is what happens when they do. Nick Cody & Luke Heggie catalogue the greatest air travel incidents.

SO DRAMATIC! with Megan Pustetto

From reality TV to real life, it’s all just So Dramatic! Entertainment journalist Megan Pustetto brings you exclusive reality TV gossip, breaks down all the latest celeb scandals, and delves into all the drama happening in her own life too. Megan goes straight to the source to bring you the tea, featuring exclusive chats with your favourite reality stars, celebrities, and special guests, and gets the answers to questions everyone else is too afraid to ask! Just three weeks after launching, So Dramatic! reached number five on the overall Australian podcast charts, had one million downloads in the first seven months, and was named Australia’s number one TV & Film Podcast in 2020.

That’s Enough Already with Urzila Carlson

We all have things that, as they so beautifully put it in Australia, “shit us to death.” Well, what’s your thing? From Covid-deniers to people who don’t give way in traffic, this is a show about the morons who make the world a worse place, and Urzila and her guests are prepared to name and shame them all.

The Becky and Cam Hotline with Becky Lucas & Cameron James

A call-in advice show hosted by comedians and untrained life coaches Becky Lucas (Conan, JFL) and Cameron James (Comedy Central, Finding Desperado). CALL: 1800 BECKYCAM.

The Little Dum Dum Club with Tommy Dassalo & Karl Chandler

A properly funny and very dumb chat, the podcast is listened to by tens of thousands of followers every week. Hosts Tommy Dassalo and Karl Chandler convince talented guests to join them and proceed to drag them down to their stupid, little level. In nearly 9 years, The Little Dum Dum Club has featured international guests such as Marc Maron, Bill Burr, Kumail Nanjiani and Russell Howard, the very best of local acts like Celia Pacquola, Fiona O’Loughlin, Shaun Micallef, Tony Martin and Dave Hughes, and uncovered the next generation of superstars like Ronny Chieng, Anne Edmonds and Nick Cody.

TOFOP with Wil Anderson & Charlie Clausen

TOFOP is one of Australia’s longest running comedy podcasts that is also inexplicably popular amongst the medical community. The name is short for Thirty Odd Foot Of Pod, a tribute to Russell Crowe’s band 30 Odd Foot of Grunts, affectionately known as TOFOG. It was an obscure reference when TOFOP started back in 2010 and it just keeps getting more confusing with each passing year (much like the show itself). Topics range from pop culture riffs, personal anecdotes, and absurd hypotheticals, all viewed through Wil and Charlie’s unique prism.

The Great Australian Podcast Festival will take over Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Saturday 6 November and Sunday 7 November. Tickets are on sale via Ticketmaster.com.au.
