James Bay announces global livestream concert

"If music be the food of love, play on"

To stream, or not to stream isn’t even a question when three-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter James Bay is hosting a livestream in one of the most beautiful and historic stages in the UK – heck, maybe even the world.

Next month he will take the stage at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre for a special show that will be livestreamed all around the world.

For the unfamiliar, Shakespeare’s Globe is a modern reconstruction of the historic Globe Theatre, which became famous as the home of William Shakespeare’s theatre company and productions.

On the night, Bay will perform songs from across his catalogue, including the latest single and first released from his third album ‘Chew On My Heart’ and a handful of surprises alongside his full band – changing pace from the livestreams and Instagram live sessions you may have watched throughout lockdown.

“Having spent the COVID months of 2020 very much as a solo performer, singing into my iPhone from the spare room in my house, I’m so excited to reunite with a band and play music from a stage as legendary and iconic as that of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre,” Bay says.

“I’m sad that I can’t have an actual audience in the Globe with me, but so excited that we get to create this show for people all around the world to see. It might be a long road back to concerts as we’d like them, but we’re getting closer and in the meantime, it’s such an honour to play this show for everyone.”

So far, 2020 has seen Bay perform on top of the London Eye for The Late Late Show with James Corden, on The Today Show, Mahogany Sessions, and on Youtube in support of #SaveOurVenues – the UK crowd fundraiser started to protect UK grassroots music venues at risk of permanent closure due to COVID-19.

James Bay will perform a one-off live-streamed concert at Shakespeare’s Globe on Thursday 22 October @ 8pm AEST. Tickets go on sale Thursday 22 October @ 8pm AEST via Ticketmaster.com.au.
