Broadway production Frozen The Musical is heading to Perth and we've got all your ticketing info here.
Following its smash-hit Australian debut season in Sydney, Broadway production Frozen The Musical is ready to make its way to Perth this August.
Following the incredible local success of The Lion King, Mary Poppins and Aladdin, the incredible musical will make its home at Crown Theatre Perth.
As we prepare for the highly anticipated Perth premiere, Frozen has given us even more exciting news – they’ve announced that the incredible principle cast of performers bringing Frozen The Musical to life on stage will return.
That means that the wonderful Jemma Rix and Courtney Monsma will again be taking on the much-loved and exciting roles of Elsa and Anna, respectively.
If you aren’t familiar with either of these women, let us give you a quick rundown. Rix is best known for her portrayal of Elphaba in the Australian production of Wicked, as well as leading roles in Ghost the Musical, Evita and, most recently, Jekyll and Hyde opposite Anthony Warlow.
Monsma was celebrated in the role of Catherine Howard in the Australian production of SIX. She’s also performed in the Australasian tour of Disney’s Aladdin understudying the role of Princess Jasmine and appeared in the Australian tour of MAMMA MIA!.
They will be joined by some of Australia’s most outstanding musical theatre performers and exciting fresh faces in the rest of Frozen The Musical’s beloved roles of Olaf, Kristoff, Hans, Sven, and more. And the best part is – we can now reveal them all to you.
Everyone’s favourite snowman Olaf, will be played by one of Australia’s best-known entertainers, Matt Lee. With musical theatre, dance, choreography, film, and TV credits to his name – including starring as Bert in Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Mary Poppins for which he won the Helpmann Award for Best Actor and as a Logie nominated judge on So You Think You Can Dance Australia – we can’t wait to see him on the Crown Theatre Perth stage.
Lee will be joined by Thomas McGuane in the role of Hans, Sean Sinclair as Kristoff, Aljin Abella as Weselton, and Jonathan MacMillan and Lachlan McIntyre who will share the role of Sven.
Western Australian audiences have so warmly welcomed our productions of The Lion King, Mary Poppins and Aladdin over the past ten years, and we are thrilled that Perth will now have the chance to enjoy our latest production, Frozen. It was a great honour for me to be in Australia for the start of Frozen, to be part of Australia leading the world in theatre’s return. And, since then, we’ve watched in awe as Australians made the tough sacrifices in so many aspects of their life.
But Frozen is about a return from isolation and a community healing. And to now have the opportunity to bring this beautiful show to Perth, with its remarkable cast, crew, and orchestra, we can’t wait for people to experience it. We are delighted to be coming back.Thomas Schumacher, President & Producer Disney Theatrical Productions

What is Frozen The Musical?
Frozen The Musical is based on the 2013 film of the same name that brought us smash-hit single ‘Let It Go’ – written by singer-songwriting husband and wife duo, Kristen Anderson Lopez and Bobby Lopez – which reached the top five on the Billboard 100 Chart and won both the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2015 and the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media in 2015. As well as being the youngest EGOT in the world – one of only sixteen people who have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony Award – Bobby is best known for co-creating Book of Morman and Avenue Q.
The film itself notched up its fair share of nominations and award wins. It was nominated for two Golden Globes, winning for Best Animated Feature and becoming the first Walt Disney Animation Studios film to do so. As well as the Academy Award for ‘Let It Go’, it also named Best Animated Featured. Frozen also scored the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film, five Annie Awards (including Best Animated Feature), and two Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for ‘Let It Go’. So it’s safe to say, the film was well and truly a critical and commercial success, sweeping the world up in its beautiful, magical narrative.
The Broadway production has become a classic in its own right, featuring a creative team that has a collective 16 Tony awards to its credit and continually appearing as one of the top ten best-selling Broadway shows. The Australian production was the first Frozen to open anywhere in the world outside of New York, and has now expanded to include a North American tour, London’s West End, Japan and Hamburg, Germany.
Featuring a dozen new songs created exclusively for the stage, this unforgettable theatrical experience is filled with sensational special effects, stunning sets and costumes, and powerhouse performances. Frozen is everything you want in a musical: it’s moving, it’s spectacular, and above all, it’s pure, theatrical joy.
