Death of a Salesman is coming to Perth!
The Arthur Miller’s timeless Pulitzer Prize-winning classic play Death of a Salesman will make its way to Perth this August.
The play features some famous faces such as Emmy®, Golden Globe®, and Tony Award® winning Anthony LaPaglia. The production is directed by the iconic Neil Armfield. He has been involved in the creation of critically acclaimed hits such as Cloudstreet, The Secret River, Diary of a Madman, The Judas Kiss and Exit The King.
What is Death of a Salesman about?
Arthur Miller’s “Death of a Salesman” is a gripping exploration of the American Dream and it’s consequences. Resonating with audiences for generations, this timeless masterpiece offers deep insights into the human psyche.
Willy Loman, a weary travelling salesman, he has spent his years driving New England’s highways and is feeling increasingly discontent. He struggles with his job, family, and reality. His wife Linda fights to keep him and their sons, Biff and Happy, from falling apart. Returning home for spring, Biff and Happy face the disillusionment of unfulfilled promises and an unattainable dream.
Who is set to star in the play?
As mentioned previously, Emmy®, Golden Globe®, and Tony Award® winner Anthony LaPaglia returns to his iconic role as Willy Loman. Joining him is the talented Alison Whyte, reprising her critically acclaimed performance as Linda Loman. Josh Helman is back as the troubled Biff, and Tom Stokes returns as Bernard.
The cast also features Marco Chiappi who will play Charley, Willy’s loyal friend. He known for his work in “Away” and “Love and Information,” Anthony Phelan will play Willy’s successful older brother, Ben Loman. Phelan is known for his roles in Queensland Theatre Company’s “Boy Swallows Universe” and ‘The Wild Duck’. Rounding out the cast is Ben O’Toole, known for “Bloody Hell” and Nine’s “Amazing Grace,” who plays Biff’s carefree brother, Happy Loman.
