The countdown is on...

The Hyundai A-League is drawing to a close, with just eight weeks remaining before the Finals.

Sydney FC are sitting pretty on top of the table, almost unstoppable this season, but we know all too well that this means nothing come Finals time.

They will undoubtedly finish as Minor Champions, but still have a mountain of a task to take out the 2019-20 Hyundai A-League campaign.

Melbourne City, Perth Glory, and Wellington Phoenix will all be hoping to wrap up their top-six berths in the coming weeks, with Adelaide United and Brisbane Roar rounding out the current six.

Melbourne Victory v Sydney FC

It doesn’t get much bigger than this weekend’s original derby, the Big Blue, as Melbourne Victory host Sydney FC at Marvel Stadium on Saturday 7 March.

A goal-fest could be on the cards, with six scored in the previous two meetings between the two sides this season – and boasting two of the league’s top strikers in Adam Le Fondre and Ola Toivonen.

Le Fondre has once again put on a clinical display, leading the Golden Boot with 15 to his name already, while Toivonen isn’t too far behind with ten goals in his last 16 matches.

Victory are still within touching distance of the top six, and will be buoyed by an amazing come-from-behind victory on the weekend, with a 91st-minute winner from Andrew Nabbout to seal the deal against Adelaide United.

Perth Glory v Melbourne City

This weekend also sees two of the competition’s heavyweights go at it, with 2nd taking on 3rd.

With a top-two berth and a double-chance on the line, you can be sure this one is a crucial clash for both sides, taking place at HBF Park this Sunday (8 March) afternoon.

The match sees a little extra spice added, with Bruno Fornaroli taking on his former club after netting against them earlier in the season.

Fornaroli has been in exceptional form this campaign, with 11 goals to his name, and will be hoping to further showcase what Melbourne City are missing out on.
