Summer Sounds Brisbane announce King Gizzard, Violent Soho, Ball Park Music, and more

Keeping the summertime going!

Following recent stops in Melbourne and Sydney, Summer Sounds Festival is on its way to Brisbane this April and May.

And they’ve put together a bumper lineup of shows to celebrate.

Summer Sounds Brisbane’s stacked lineup will see some of Australia’s best homegrown talent taking over the Riverstage, led by headliners King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, The Avalanches, Violent Soho, and Ball Park Music.

We also can’t not mention the extra exciting news that there are GA standing (yes, actual boogeying tickets) and seated ticketing options.

Launching the festival series with an absolutely chaotic bang, led by one of the country’s most innovative acts King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. If releasing more than 16 albums over the last 8 years – including five in 2017 alone – wasn’t enough, on the live stage is where they do their mind-bending best work. They’ll be joined by post-apocalyptic acid punk outfit Tropical Fuck Storm and psych-garage dynamos The Murlocs for a day you won’t forget anytime soon.

Following the release of last year’s Australian Music Prize winning We Will Always Love You – featuring a star-studded list of guests, including MGMT, Blood Orange, Denzel Curry, and Sampa The Great – The Avalanches will bring their mesmerising live show to Riverstage. Recognised as one of Australia’s most influential acts for the last two decades, a chance to see The Avalanches live can’t be passed up.

If you’ve ever witnessed a Violent Soho live show, then you’ll know why we’re so excited about this next Summer Sounds Brisbane show. The band will play the first headline show since releasing their ARIA #1 fifth studio album Everything Is A-OK last May, giving fans the first chance to hear the band’s new music live. With Tired Lion – also riding high on their new album Breakfast for Pathetics – and Seathru, this show will be one for the record books.

With six much-loved albums under their belts, Ball Park Music are well and truly Aussie indie-rock darlings. Their recent placing at #4 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2020, and #17 in the Hottest 100 of the Decade should be proof enough. Sing along anthems and feel-good vibes are definitely on the menu for this show.

If this news doesn’t have you stoked enough, there are still more gigs to be announced.
