“It’s good to be home,” declares singer Wil Wanger on the final night of The Smith Street Band’s latest Aussie tour.
Fresh from recording a new album in America – with shows across the US and Europe to boot- The Smith Street Band returned home to celebrate their brand new single, Death To The Lads.
Suitably anthemic, fans rally around the Footscray musicians as they open with the bellowing new track at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel. If this song is anything to go by, the band’s upcoming full-length is going to be all heart and then some.
“We appreciate coming home and playing for you,” Wil adds, showing his admiration for tonight’s sold out crowd, recalling a year spent playing European festivals and small venues across the world.
On home turf though, there’s just no stopping The Smith Street Band. The career-spanning setlist has the crowd in a frenzy from start to finish, complete with a teaser of more new material and word of the band’s very own record label, Pool House Records.
