Ticketmaster: The Melbourne International Comedy Festival is turning 30 this year! Can you tell me the significance of the festival and how it has impacted comedy in Australia over three decades?

The Kagools: We’ve heard great things about it for years from across the pond, so it’s certainly had an impact on us in the UK. It’s a massive worldwide festival and we’re very excited to be performing here for the first time.  It brings people from all over the world to Melbourne for one bustling month.

Ticketmaster: When did you know you wanted to get into comedy?

The Kagools:  Probably when we first fell over and someone laughed – what a buzz. You can actually have a career in being a clown? Sign us up!

Ticketmaster: If you could perform with any comedian who would it be?

The Kagools:  Robin Williams or Lucille Ball.  Sadly neither looks possible.

Ticketmaster: Which comedians are you most excited to see during the Comedy Festival?

The Kagools:  So many! Yetis Demon Dive Bar, James Acaster, The Eulogy, Pajama Men…

Ticketmaster: What makes you laugh?

The Kagools:  People who are willing to show their idiot side. And babies wearing wigs.

Ticketmaster: What are your tips for things to do in Melbourne if you are here to see comedy shows as part of MICF?

The Kagools: We don’t know Melbourne at all so wouldn’t have a clue!  But in terms of shows we’d recommend trying out styles/shows/comedians you wouldn’t normally think you’d like.

Ticketmaster: And to close, tell us your cheesiest joke…

The Kagools:  The Kagools do physical comedy, so you’ll have to imagine us tripping into a huge vat of camembert.

The Kagools will perform at Roxanne until April 17. Click here to purchase tickets.
