Five of the best… Bryan Adams

Canadian singer songwriter Bryan Adams was a major player in the music scene throughout the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s and barely left the charts during this time. He is known for his incredible power ballads, rock pop anthems and duets with some of the biggest names in the business, as well as his phenomenal live performances.

In addition to his abilities as a singer songwriter, Adams is an accomplished guitarist – he worked as a dishwasher to save money for his first guitar – producer and award-winning photographer. His vast ability shows he is just one of life’s talented people; everything they touch turns to gold!

And now you can get up close and personal with Bryan Adams who is set to play four ‘a day on the green’ gigs in Queensland, NSW, South Australia and Western Australia in March next year. The magic of a live Bryan Adams show will only be matched by the magic of your beautiful surrounds with all ‘a day on the green’ performances set in picturesque wineries.

Can’t Stop This Thing We Started

This song was the follow up single to what was probably Bryan Adams’ biggest smash hit (read on for more details) so it is safe to say expectations were high. Luckily for Adams, Can’t Stop This Thing We Started was a critical and popular success, charting in the top 10 in more than 10 countries. The track was the second single on Adams’ 1991 album, Waking Up The Neighbours, and had a sharp, rock edge, which was in stark contrast to his earlier single, (Everything I Do) I Do It For you. The song was a massive hit and showcases Bryan Adams at the peak of his success and popularity.

Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman

Bryan Adams is very well-known for his powerful love songs and Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman is a particularly good example of this. The song was released in 1995 and was written specifically for the film, Don Juan DeMarco, which starred Johnny Depp, Marlon Brando and Faye Dunnaway. The Spanish influences of Don Juan can be seen in the film clip, which was shot in Spain and features Adams in a masquerade mask. The song is striking for its flamenco guitar sound and emotive lyrics. Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman was a massive hit around the world and charted in top spot on the Australia music charts and was a top 10 hit in more than 15 countries worldwide. It is a Bryan Adams classic – click below to listen for yourself.

Please Forgive Me

Please Forgive Me is another track plucked straight from the Bryan Adams ballad playbook. The track was the only original song on the singer’s 1993 compilation album, So Far So Good, and what a song it was! The song was a mega hit throughout the world, including in Australia where it reached number one. Here is a fun fact; Please Forgive Me was the only number one song for Bryan Adams in Australia that was not specifically written for a film. The song was one of the dominant hits of the power ballad-loving early ‘90s and if you take a look at the clip below it is very easy to see why.

Summer of ‘69

Summer of ’69 is one of those rare songs that has become an everlasting anthem. The track seems to pop up at every wedding, party and major event and yet it was not one of Adams’ biggest chart successes. The song polled well around the world, but given its now universal appeal, it was a modest result, including number 14 in Australia and number 11 of his native Canada. While a top 20 is nothing to be sneezed at, it seems the song’s massive appeal has risen over time. And you can see why; Summer of ’69 is a rocking example of Bryan Adams’ best work.

(Everything I Do) I Do It For You

It is hard to go past this epic love song when talking about the best tracks of Bryan Adams. (Everything I Do) I Do It For You was written for the 1991 mega-hit film, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, which starred Kevin Costner, Alan Rickman, Morgan Freeman and Christian Slater. The track was a massive success all over the world and to this day still holds the record on the UK music charts for the most weeks at number 1. The song was also number 1 in the USA for nine consecutive weeks and took out top spot in more than 15 other countries. Apparently the song was written in less than half an hour; an amazing feat given the enormous impact that track had around the world. (Everything I Do) I Do It For You is the quintessential love pop song and we think it is the clear stand out of Adams’ songs. Click below to watch the clip – we hope you agree it is a brilliant example of Bryan Adams’ work.

All For Love with Sting and Rod Stewart

OK, this one is technically not a duet because there were three incredible male vocalists who contributed to the track. The track was a major hit, charting at top spot in more than 10 countries, and was featured in the 1993 film, The Three Musketeers (hence the three male lead vocalists!).

Don’t Give Up with Chicane
