Science suggests that Paramore’s new album, After Laughter, is one of the single-most awe-inspiring records released this side of the moon landing.

Okay, so it’s less science and more the opinion of many music fans across the globe, but the latest live reviews from Paramore’s International tour tend to suggest the same.

After Laughter saw the Tennessee trio – Hayley Williams, Zac Farro and Taylor York – deliver a more mature take on their much-loved pop rock sound.

Packed with fun indie beats and a flurry of cool synths, the record’s lyrics presented a band at the tail end of maturity both personally and musically.

We’re itching to see this translated onto live stages down under, and even more so after reading so many glowing reviews from the UK music press.

Gigwise were full of fresh praise for the three-piece, explaining how the band ‘burst onto the stage to the tropical beat of Hard Times‘, with the tropical theme said to continue through the band’s ‘bright stage aesthetics’.

Reviewing Paramore’s O2 Arena show in London, The Guardian‘s Alexis Petridis wrote, ‘The shifts between old material and new never seem disjointed, because they were clearly always a pop band at heart.’ Concluding that ‘Paramore’s lasting appeal becomes self-evident’.

Covering the same gig, The Independent told its readers, ‘It’s rare to see both the audience and the band lift each other up so generously, but this isn’t anything new for Paramore.’

Adding, ‘It’s why those who are missing the “old Paramore” needn’t bother. Tonight, Paramore have given another crowd the experience of uncomplicated joy, just like they always have done, and always will.’

Paramore tour Australia in February, including a huge date at Brisbane’s Riverstage on Sunday 11 February. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com.au.
