Carole King’s Tapestry 50th anniversary celebration tour announced – new shows added

The songs on 'Tapestry' are just as magical today as they were 50 years ago.

When listening to Carole King’s landmark album Tapestry, the music still sounds as vivid and fresh as it did back in 1971.

Featuring timeless classics like ‘I Feel the Earth Move’, ‘So Far Away’, ‘You’ve Got a Friend’, ‘It’s Too Late’, ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’, and ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’, the album immediately hit #1 on the Billboard chart, where it remained for 15 consecutive weeks – staying on the chart for a staggering five years.

Adding to Tapestry‘s accolades, in 1972 it received four Grammy Awards including Album of the Year and Song of the Year (for ‘You’ve Got A Friend’ – the first woman to win the award). Tapestry went on to become the highest-selling female album of all time with more than 25 million copies sold, before being surpassed by Whitney Houston. It is still lauded as one of the greatest albums of all time.

2021 marks 50 years since Carole King released her phenomenal album, so of course, there is only one way to celebrate.

One of Australia’s finest leading ladies Esther Hannaford – the star of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical – will be joined by an all-star band to take Tapestry on an extensive tour of Australia.

When we say all-star band, we mean it. Joining Hannaford is a selection of Australia’s finest contemporary musicians, including musical director and Jet bassist Mark Wilson, keyboardists Clio Renner and Louis Macklin, guitarist and vocalist Olivia Bartley (Olympia), and drummer Pete Marin.

Together they’ll perform Carole King’s Tapestry album from start to finish, alongside a selection of her greatest hits and songs she wrote for other multi-platinum selling artists.
