If you’re a heavy music fan anywhere in the world, chances are you’ve spent a lot of time mulling over flights for Download Festival in the UK.

The legendary weekender is the ultimate mecca for metallers and this year’s line-up boasts some of our finest homegrown bands alongside 2017 headliners System of a Down, Biffy Clyro and Aerosmith.

Here’s who’s repping Oz on the line-up so far…

Northlane

The strength of Australian metalcore can be seen in the rising success of this Sydney outfit. After dropping 2017’s Mesmer without warning, the band’s latest album shot to No.3 in Australia and sets them as a must-see on the main stage at Download.

Airbourne

What is a metal music gathering without the attendance of these Warrnambool rockers? Maintaining their place as one of the scene’s most electric live bands, this lot are a guaranteed thrill whatever the weather.

Sick Puppies

Founded in Sydney and now based in California, this trio bring new material from 2016’s Fury to the fans at Donington.

The Dead Daisies

With influences comprising Aerosmith, Bad Company and Foreigner, this five-piece possess a soulful sound that hails from the 70s and early 80s era of rock ‘n’ roll.

Plus New Zealand natives…

Like A Storm

Walking the line between powerful post-grunge and straight-up hard rock, this Auckland-born band took their Kiwi touch to North America shortly after forming in 2005 and have been a stalwart in the metal scene ever since.

Devilskin

You can’t move within New Zealand’s metal community without hearing the rumbling of Hamilton’s Devilskin. With Jennie Skulander at the helm, these Kiwis roar with unmissable melody.

Here’s how the full line-up is shaping up.
