South Australians are spoiled for choice when it comes to attending a gig at the iconic Thebarton Theatre. The Torrensville institution regularly hosts incredible music concerts, comedy gigs and family and children’s’ entertainment events.

The Thebarton Theatre is an amazing venue for live entertainment and to celebrate we are shining a light on 10 of the best events that are set to take place at the theatre over the next 12 months. There is something for everyone in the below list from heavy metal to a duo of cellists.

The Monkees
December 11

Hey, hey they’re the Monkees… and they are heading to the Thebarton Theatre as part of their 50^th Anniversary Tour! The Monkees were one of the hottest bands of the 1960s, as well as four of the biggest television stars of the time. Original members Peter Tork and Micky Dolenz will reunite on stage to perform the Monkees’ biggest hits. The Monkees will perform at the Thebarton Theatre on December 11 and will also hit the stage at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre, State Theatre Sydney and the Perth Concert Hall.

Russell Howard: Round the World – Live Tour
July 13, 2017

This show has a very long lead time, but we can assure you Russell Howard is worth the wait! The English comedian and television host is a master of stand-up comedy and one of the UK’s most successful live comedians. Russell Howard will perform 10 dates at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall and then visit a further 29 international cities, which luckily includes Adelaide. The comedian is absolutely hilarious so do not miss your chance to see him live on stage at the Thebarton Theatre in July 2017. He will also perform at Arts Centre Melbourne Hamer Hall and the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.

Circus Oz
July 30-31

This is one event that the entire family will be itching to see. Circus Oz has been wowing the crowds for decades and they will do it all over again with their newest show, TWENTYSIXTEEN. The talented performers can do it all so prepare to be amazed by the acrobatics, juggling, the flying trapeze and the absurd larrikinism.

An Evening with Dionne Warwick
November 12

American songstress Dionne Warwick is a legend of her generation and one of the most prolific hit-makers of all time. In fact, Dionne Warwick is the second most charted female vocalist, with only the phenomenal Aretha Franklin topping her achievements. We could go on and on about the hits of Dionne Warwick; her back catalogue speaks for itself (one of our favourites is below). Do not miss this chance to see one of the industry’s true legends live in concert at the Thebarton Theatre. Dionne Warwick will also perform at the Perth Concert Hall and Palais Theatre in Melbourne.

Alan Carr – Yap, Yap, Yap!
August 26

The Chatty Man is set to hit the stage of the Thebarton Theatre and we know the result will be utterly hilarious! Alan Carr – the smiling English comedian and TV host – will have you laughing in the aisles with his unique and brilliant style of stand-up. The funny and chatty man will also perform at Arts Centre Melbourne’s Hamer Hall and the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.

Henry Rollins
September 22

Fans of Henry Rollins will know, there’s nothing he can’t do. The workaholic is an actor, musician, photographer, voice over artist, author, columnist, TV host, activist and comedian. And he will take to the stage at the Thebarton Theatre for a speaking tour, which is sure to be funny and thought-provoking. This is one not to miss! Henry Rollins will also perform at The Tivoli in Brisbane and the State Theatre at Arts Centre Melbourne.

Deftones  
November 10

Metal fans are rejoicing at the news American alt-metal band the Deftones are returning to Australia. The Grammy Award-winning band will be supported by Aussie rock group KARNIVOOL and Perth’s progressive metal band, Voyager. It is a killer line-up so get in quick to secure your tickets.

2CELLOS – The Celloverse Tour
November 28

What do you get when you mix Bach and Vivaldi with AC/DC and Michael Jackson? You get the instrumental duo 2CELLOS of course. The Croatian cellists have made a huge name for themselves over the past five years, supporting Elton John on tour,  appearing on the Ellen Degeneres show and releasing incredible versions of famous songs such as Smooth Criminal and Thunderstruck. 2CELLOS will perform at the Thebarton Theatre on November 28 as well as Queensland’s Eatons Hill Hotel and Melbourne’s Palais Theatre.

Rodriguez with Special Guest Archie Roach
November 29-30

Sugar Man aka Sixto Rodriguez has one of the most fascinating stories in music history. The American singer-songwriter had a short-lived career, except in South Africa, where it has been reported Rodriguez outsold Elvis. Some dedicated fans tracked down the musician leading to a resurgence in his career and popularity. Now is your chance to see the man himself live on stage at the Thebarton Theatre with very special guest, Archie Roach. Rodriguez will also perform at the Plenary in Melbourne, Tasmania’s Derwent Entertainment Centre, Sydney’s State Theatre, Kings Park in Perth and as part of ‘a day on the green’.

Vengaboys
November 11

The Vengabus is coming so make sure you are on it! Dutch Eurodance group, the Vengaboys, will perform all their massive 1990s/2000s hits live on stage at the Thebarton Theatre. Who can forget the group’s biggest hits We Like to Party (The Vengabus), We’re Going to Ibiza and Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!?
