Following a celebrated season in Melbourne, West Side Story has now opened at Sydney Opera House.

It has become known as the greatest Broadway musical of all time, and since it first opened more than 60 years ago, the genius of its four creators has remained unquestioned.

Australian audiences cannot get enough of West Side Story and the latest Australian production does the original collaboration proud.

You’ll, of course, hear all your favourite moments from Bernstein’s world-famous score including ‘Maria’, ‘Tonight’, ‘Somewhere’, ‘America’ and ‘I Feel Pretty’, as well as the internationally-renowned choreography that has helped to make it the iconic production it is.

A modern retelling of Romeo and Juliet; this tragic love story tells the tale of two young people whose happiness is destroyed by the hate of two enemy camps in New York City’s urban jungle. The “Jets”, sons of previous immigrants to America, battle the new arrivals from Puerto Rico, the “Sharks”, for domination of the streets. The cast are brilliant in their portrayals of some of the most well-loved and well-known characters in musical theatre history, with Todd Jacobsson as Tony, Sophie Salvesani as Maria, Chloe Zuel as Anita, Noah Mullins as Riff, Lyndon Watts as Bernardo, alongside a whole host of other talent.

From incredible vocal performances, to breathtaking dance routines. and stunning choreography, be transported to 1950s New York City and fall in love with West Side Story all over again.

Check out the cast in action below before you head along to their Sydney season. This is a production not to be missed.
