The cast of global hit TV show The Next Step have landed Australia with a brand new show. They’re currently taking over venues right around the country with this expanded live stage show.

The Next Step TV show

First airing in 2013, The Next Step is a Canadian TV series that follows a group of dancers as they tackle drama among themselves while training to compete against rival dance schools. Having just wrapped up its sixth season, The Next Step has proved itself to be a hit among viewers who have followed the show and its cast since its inception over seven years ago. The show has received praise for its thoughtful portrayal of social issues including bullying, self-esteem, and peer pressure through the medium of a mockumentary-style delivery influenced by reality television.

Bringing The Next Step to the stage

Featuring ten of the cast members from the hit television series, The Next Step – Absolute Dance is a brand-new show that offers fans a chance to get up close and personal with cast members from the global hit TV show. It’s a night not to be missed by long-time fans and dancers alike.

The production comes hot off the heels of a sell-out dance workshop featuring Victoria Baldesarra and co-star Brittany Raymond that toured around Australia earlier this year, sharing their tremendous skill set and experience with the nation’s biggest dance enthusiasts. The 90-minute stage show on the current tour sees the cast perform solos, duets, trios and group numbers choreographed to popular hit songs along with original music from the show.

Amy Wright is the Creative Director/Choreographer for the tour. She has been with the television show right from the beginning, as Casting Director, Choreographer, and as a Producer – coordinating over 500 unique dance moments for the series.

Meet The Next Step cast

Featuring a host of exciting dancers across a range of genres, it’s time to meet some of The Next Step cast you can get up close and personal with.

Victoria Baldesarra – ‘Michelle’

Now aged 21, Victoria Baldesarra plays the lead role of Michelle – the energetic co-captain of the A-troupe. Baldesarra has starred in the show since the very beginning and remains one of the standout performers both on and off-screen. We know fans of The Next Step will be thrilled to welcome Baldesarra back to Australia for another exciting season of high energy dance performance.

Briar Nolet – ‘Richelle’

Joining the cast in the show’s second season, Briar Nolet is yet another fan favourite. Playing the role of Richelle, whose greatest ambition is to become captain of the A-Troupe, Nolet’s talent is unmistakable through her determination and passion evident on screen. Having developed epilepsy at the age of 16, Nolet has assured fans that she has no intention of slowing down. Despite the shock diagnosis, Nolet insists that she is “happy to be back on [her] feet and working towards [her] dreams.”

Isaiah Peck – ‘Henry’

Specialising in hip hop and ballet, Isaiah Peck plays the role of Henry in The Next Step. Henry is a zealous break-dancer who joined the cast in season 4. His goofy personality often finds him in funny predicaments with girls and other members of the troupe.

Shelby Bain – ‘Amy’

Portraying Amy in the show, Shelby Bain started dancing when she was just four years old. With training in lyrical, jazz, ballet, tap, hip hop and contemporary, Bain is no doubt a force to be reckoned with as she takes to the stage for the show’s live production.

Alexandra Chaves – ‘Piper’

With several national and international titles under her belt, Alexandra Chaves also joined The Next Step in season four. Playing the role of Piper, Chaves brings a unique energy to the series as her character struggles to establish her own identity and dance away from her older brother’s shadow.

Berkeley Ratzlaff – ‘Davis’

Portrayed by the multi-award-winning Berkeley Ratzlaff, Davis is one of the newest characters in the series. She is often considered ‘the nice one’ and is best known for her hip hop performance in season six as well as her proficiency in the French language.

Sage Linder – ‘Summer’

Also joining the cast in season six, Sage Linder plays the role of Summer – a budding lyrical dancer and winner of the highly-regarded Stacy Carpenter Scholarship. She is an optimistic and positive girl who is always friendly toward others while still holding her own.

Dylan Ratzlaff – ‘Dylan’

As the younger sister to Berkeley Ratzlaff, Dylan Ratzlaff plays the role of Davis’ younger sister Jacqui, who began dancing after she was inspired by her older sister. Jacqui is a typical teen, obsessed with boybands and occasionally insecure. However, she has worked hard to become the confident, self-assured dancer we see portrayed on the show today.

Liam Mackie – ‘Finn’

Liam Mackie plays the role of Finn in the series; a spirited hip hop dancer who is constantly making others laugh with his quirky one-liners. Commencing his dance career at the age of five, Finn has performed all over the globe in destinations such as Italy, Las Vegas, and Germany.

Noah Zulfikar – ‘Kingston’

Kingston, the self-taught hip hop dancer who eventually becomes a popular YouTube star, is portrayed by Noah Zulfikar. Kingston is depicted as an excitable and eager character who chooses dance above all else, including his schoolwork which proves to be an ongoing issue throughout season five.
