One of our all-time favourite fairytales, Jack and the Beanstalk, will be brought to life this July.
Directed by Bonnie Lythgoe, the story comes to life in a ‘Giant’ 3D panto at the State Theatre in Sydney.

The all-star cast will put on 15 shows from 12-21 July.

The cast

‘Jack’ will be played by former Hi-5 star Lachie Dearing. Lachie has recently made his musical theatre debut in Saturday Night Fever, now playing at the Sydney Lyric, after three years in popular kids group Hi-5.

Much-adored musical theatre star Lucy Durack will also appear in the production, taking on the role of the ‘Fairy Crystal Spirit of the Beans’. Durack is well-known for her role as the Glinda, the Good With of the South, in the Wicked production for several years.

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here season five winner Richard Reid will also appear in the role of ‘Bumble the Lord Chancellor’. Reid is most known for his work as an entertainment reporter, and was recently crowned ‘King of the Jungle’ in the most recent I’m A Celebrity season earlier this year.

Kath & Kim favourite and Aussie comedy legend Peter Rowsthorn also joins the cast in the role of ‘King Able Crumble’. Famed for his work on the hit Australian sit-com, Rowsthorn also appeared on I’m a Celebrity in 2018.

Jimmy Rees, more widely recognised as Jimmy Giggle from kids show ‘Giggle and Hoot’ also takes on a role in the production, starring as ‘Simple Simon as Trott’. Jimmy recently competed on Dancing with the Stars and is a much-loved children’s entertainer across the country.

Anastasia Feneri also joins the cast as ‘Jill’. Feneri herself has been performing both on stage and TV/film since a young age, with stage credits such as Chicago, West Side Story and Legally Blonde highlighting a very fine repertoire.

With so many famous friendly faces and an all-star cast, this panto is an almost must for the kids in the next school holidays.
