Coldplay named Ticket of the Year 2016 by Ticketmaster fans globally!
It’s official, Ticketmaster customers across the globe have crowned Coldplay as their Ticket of the Year 2016.
Voting in their droves, fans from across the world have named the British rockers’ A Head Full Of Dreams tour as the most popular live event of 2016.
Ticketmaster opened the vote to our 85 million live entertainment fans across 28 countries to help decide this year’s Ticket of the Year winner.
On receiving the title, Chris Martin from Coldplay said: “We’re honoured to receive the Ticketmaster Ticket of the Year award. Thank you to everyone who voted for us. The shows that we’ve played this year have been very special to us so it’s wonderful to know that they’ve been special to the fans as well.”
Meanwhile in Australia alone, it was Matilda the Musical which topped the poll following its sell-out year down under.
Maria O’Connor, Managing Director of Ticketmaster said: “Although 2016 has been a quiet year for the music touring industry in Australia, we are pleased to have delivered many incredible moments to fans across the country, including multiple stadium shows. We’re looking forward to a busier 2017.”
Aussie event lovers actually showed an astounding level of love for theatre, with the majority of our top 10 spots being snapped up by a musical.
Brisbane rockers Violent Soho were the only music act to make the top 10, following their phenomenal year supporting the release of their 2016 full-length, WACO.
