Midnight not a sound from the pavement, has the moon lost her memory?

The fourth-longest running Broadway musical in theatre history, Cats is set to wow audiences in Perth this November and it’s set to be an absolute spectacle for the senses.

Featuring a live band, full choir, silks aerialists, roller skates and more, there is a lot to see.

Based on the universally popular poetry of T.S. Eliot, Cats tells the story of the annual gathering of Jellicle cats at which time one special cat is selected to ascend to the Heaviside layer.

The music stays true to the original score – so of course you’ll get to sing along to all your favourite tunes like Memory, Mr Mistoffolees and The Rum Tum Tugger – but instead of the traditional dark and gloomy alleyways we’re used to meeting our feline friends in, you’ll instead be greeted by a kaleidoscope of colour, vibrancy, and energy. The costumes and makeup follow suit – gone are the ’80s-style leotards and leg warmers – adding a fresh, new brightness to the much-loved production.

Cats the Musical boasts some incredible talent from Western Australia, with Mikey Keith as Rum Tum Tugger, Dean Misdale (AKA Feminem) as Old Deuteronomy, and Paula Parore (The Voice Australia) as Grizabella. Parore will perform alongside her husband and fellow The Voice alumni, Clay Darius, as he plays the energetic narrator, Munkustrap.

This production of Cats comes from the same team that brought you We Will Rock You and Jesus Christ Superstar so expect big things when it lands next month.
