Skate into the Carnivale

Ice skating is fun at the best of times, but O’Brien Group Arena has taken it to a new level with its exciting school holidays program, Skate into the Carnivale. As well as all the on-ice fun, there will be free lessons, roving performers, jugglers and face painting. The littlest skaters can enjoy toys and games and toddlers can even get involved with the snow play areas.

Silvers Circus

Roll up, roll up! The circus is in town. Silvers Circus has been entertaining crowds with their amazing illusions and performances for as long as I can remember, so get the kids together and get set for some good family fun. Silvers Circus will be performing at Westfield Fountain Gate throughout the school holidays. This is one not to be missed!

Snugglepot and Cuddlepie

The Australian classic, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, will soon celebrate its 100th anniversary. The books, which were written by May Gibbs, were first published in 1918 and remain family favourites almost a century later. The books centre around the gumnut babies, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, and feature wonderful pictures and tales of Australiana. The tale of the two gumnut babies has been adapted for the stage and the production promises to be full of fun and imagination. You and your kids can catch Snugglepot and Cuddlepie at Arts Centre Melbourne during the school holidays.

VFL and TAC Cup Grand Finals

Etihad Stadium plays host to the best footballers in the country week after week, but on Sunday September 25 it will showcase the best VFL and under 18s talent in the land. The stadium will host the VFL Grand Final with the TAC Cup Grand Final set as a curtain raiser. The competing teams are yet to be decided, but one thing is for certain; these games are always fierce and hard fought. If you love the local footy feel, enjoy it under the roof at one of Australia’s best sports venues.

Matilda the Musical

One of Roald Dahl’s most-loved books has been perfectly adapted for the stage. Matilda the Musical tells the familiar tale of a very special little girl, Matilda, and it is all brought to life in a stunning and uplifting musical that features incredible sets and costumes, faultless performances and stunning music, written by Tim Minchin. For many children, reading Matilda was a staple of childhood and now the entire family – as well as big kids – can relive the magic of the story. Jurassic World: The Exhibition

Get up close the personal with dinosaurs at Jurassic World. OK, they aren’t exactly real dinosaurs, but believe us, this is the closest you will ever get to seeing the real thing. The highly anticipated exhibition is now showing at the Melbourne Museum. The exhibition is based on the very successful and popular movie franchise and features loads of interactive activities for kids and big kids!

The Draw: A Symphony

Relive one of the most memorable AFL Grand Finals – the 2010 draw between Collingwood and St Kilda – at Arts Centre Melbourne on September 22. The Australian Ballet presents Coppelia

Ballet lovers rejoice! The Australian Ballet will perform one of world’s most loved ballets, Coppelia, at the Palais Theatre during the Victorian school holidays. Be blown away by the amazing talent of the performers as they showcase the spectacular costumes. As a special treat for children, the Australian Ballet will be performing a special one-off show Once Upon A Time – Coppelia for Kids, which is a one hour performance featuring narration.

Monster Jam

If your kids are total rev-heads, Monster Jam is just the ticket for them! The enormous 5-tonne monster trucks will face off and destroy everything in their path. But these finely tuned machines are more sophisticated than they look; built for bursts of speed, they can reach speeds of up to 160km and generate between 1500-2000 horsepower. Monster trucks can also jump 38 metres and up to 10 metres in the air. Don’t miss your chance to get tickets for Monster Jam at QSAC on October 1.
