Ticketmaster selected to partner with World Cup of Golf

Ticketmaster is excited to have been selected as the official ticketing agent for the upcoming World Cup of Golf, which will be held at Kingston Heath Golf Club in November.

The prestigious event is one of the most entertaining and fascinating PGA tournaments and it will be played at one of Australia’s finest golf courses later in the year. The World Cup of Golf was first played in 1953, albeit under a different name. The inaugural competition featured just seven nations and has since grown to become one of the highlights of the PGA calendar.

In 2016, the World Cup of Golf will return to its team play format with two-man teams from 28 nations competing for the John Jay Hopkins Cup. The week-long event will run from November 21 until 27 and give locals and interstate and international visitors the opportunity to watch some of the greatest golfers in the world go head-to-head against each other.

The most recent World Cup of Golf was held in Australia and was won by the Australian pair, Jason Day and Adam Scott. The pairing of Scott and Day was a dream for golf fans with the two enjoying a very successful tournament and combining for victory.

Already, it has been confirmed that defending champion Jason Day will play in the tournament. Will he defend his title alongside Adam Scott? Perhaps; it has been reported that Day has been given the green light to select his partner. But one thing is for sure, the crowds will be beside themselves to get a glimpse of Day who is in career-best form, having just reclaimed his place as the current first-ranked player in the world.

Australia will again play host to the tournament and they will no doubt be very keen to defend their position as keepers of the John Jay Hopkins Cup. Australia has had a great deal of success at the World Cup of Golf, claiming the title five times, which places them equal second with South Africa.

The Americans have dominated the tournament taking out the Cup an amazing 24 times. A total of 15 different nations have won the World Cup of Golf and Australia has hosted the tournament on four occasions; 1959, 1972, 1988 and 2013.

The event attracts the biggest names in golf with past winners including Jack Niklaus and Arnold Palmer, Ernie Els and Retief Goosen and Tiger Woods and David Duval. Aside from Jason Day, the 2016 players have not yet been named, but watch this space. We hope to bring you exciting announcements regarding the competitors over the next few months.

Ticketmaster has a long and proud history of ticketing major golf events throughout Australia. The requirements for such an undertaking are immense, but Ticketmaster’s experience in the area makes us the perfect choice for the tournament.

Ticketing details will be released shortly and watch this space for more big news regarding which players will represent their countries at the next World Cup of Golf at Kingston Heath Golf Club from November 21 until 27.
