Things to do during the Easter school holidays in VIC
There's heaps of fun things to do in Victoria during the school holidays...
As the Easter long weekend comes and goes, the school holidays arrive in Victoria.
Got plans? Don’t fret if not, we have plenty of events happening across the state to get the kids out of the house (and out of your hair).
Footy’s back…
The AFL season is underway and there will be plenty of footy on throughout the holidays. At Etihad Stadium this week, footy fans can see the Saints against the Crows on Saturday 7 April with the nighttime fixture at 8:25pm. The Dogs are again in action, this time taking on Essendon on Sunday 8 April, with another 4:20pm start.
The Dogs evidently don’t like to stray too far from Etihad Stadium, and will again be in action there the following week, against Sydney with the twilight 5:35pm match on Saturday 14 April. The following day, Sunday 15 April, sees Essendon take on Port Adelaide, with a friendly 2:10pm start.
Taking a step away from Etihad Stadium, the Cats will be in action at the newly named GMHBA Stadium (Kardinia Park) on the same day, taking on St Kilda. This is sure to be a capacity crowd as Garby Ablett Jr returns to his spiritual home for the first time since moving back to the Cats and is guaranteed to be welcomed with a rousing reception from the home crowd.
Nitro Circus Live
In keeping both the regional and sporting action, Nitro Circus Live will be taking their crazy Next Level Tour to both Mildura and Warrnambool.
The kids will absolutely love Travis Pastrana’s creation with the best athletes in BMX, scooter and inline showing their insane skills and tricks on the biggest ramps this planet has seen.
You are sure to leave with your jaw firmly stuck to the ground, with ridiculous stunts creating a night of electrifying entertainment.

Silvers Circus returns
Moving away from the sporting landscape across Victoria, Silvers Circus has again returned, on at the Geelong Showgrounds almost every single day of the school holidays. 78-Storey Treehouse is coming to life
Those behind the amazing 13-, 26- and 52-Storey Treehouses are bringing their newest and biggest adaptation of the series to life. Performing at the Arts Centre Playhouse, this is sure to be one that kids will love. The first performance is on Wednesday 4 April, and will run for the remainder of the holidays (all the way until 22 April in fact).

Dialogue in the Dark is a must for all
If you haven’t been to Dialogue in the Dark yet (or haven’t even heard of it), this is a must-do, even without the kids.
Partnering with Guide Dogs Australia, Dialogue in the Dark takes you on a sensory journey through our very own city. You won’t be able to see (it’s pitch black!), as you navigate your way through Melbourne. Led by blind guides, you will be forced to interact and communicate by relying on all your other senses. Experience a world without sight, and explore the unseen.
This one is a great idea to grab a group together and see if you can all challenge the darkness together!
Have you seen the Ice Hockey in Melbourne yet?
Heading back to sport again for a second (Melbourne is famous for it after all), the Australian Ice Hockey League will have a pre-season competition running right here in Melbourne during the school holidays, held at the O’Brien Group Arena in the Docklands.
The real season hits off on April 21, but before then head on down to the ice on April 14 and 15 for something a little different to get the kids out of the house.
You can grab single day tickets to either the Saturday or Sunday, or save money and grab the weekend pass for both days.
And finally…The Nutcracker
For those little ones that aren’t such sport fanatics, the ballet may be more suitable. The Moscow Ballet La Classique presents The Nutcracker at the Palais Theatre on Saturday 7 April. Starting at 7:30pm, this artistic ballet mastery takes us back to the world of Clara, her beloved Nutcracker doll and the magician Drosselmeyer.
