Perth Scorchers host full-cap crowd at Optus Stadium

Perth Scorchers are gearing up for the 2017-18 KFC Big Bash League Semi Final at Optus Stadium this February, set to be hosted as a double-header with a Rebel Women’s Big Bash League Semi Final.

The Semi Final, taking place on Thursday 1 February 2018, will be Perth Scorchers’ first official match at Western Australia’s all-new state of the art stadium.

In more great news for the Western Australian Cricket Association, the State Government have also confirmed that a full-capacity crowd is approved for the Semi Final fixture at Optus Stadium.

This will ensure around 55,000 seats are available for what promises to be a dramatic double-header.

On game day, the WBBL Semi Final will commerce at 12:10pm AWST, before the BBL Semi Final at 4:40pm AWST. Remaining teams to be confirmed.

Tickets for the WBBL and BBL Semi Finals are available tomorrow (Thursday 25 January) via Ticketmaster.com.au.

Cricket will also host the first ever sports fixture at Perth’s new Optus Stadium, welcoming the Gillette One-Day International between Australia and England this Sunday (28 January).

WACA CEO Ms Christina Matthews said: “Cricket is proud of the role it has played in assisting the Government to open Optus Stadium with the highest quality content, firstly exposing the venue and state to a global audience with the ODI and now securing approval for a capacity crowd for the hugely popular Perth Scorchers Semi Final.

“We also take great pride in being a sport for all Australians and the fact that cricket will host the first women’s sport event at Optus Stadium is a significant achievement.”

The 2017-18 KFC Big Bash League Semi Final double-header takes place at Optus Stadium, Perth on Thursday 1 February 2018.
