The absence of live sport around the world has left a huge hole in a lot of us.

We know you’re missing the thrill and excitement just as much as us, so here’s a list of live sport returning across Australia and around the world.

AFL

It’s back. Fans across the country will be rejoicing with the return of the AFL this weekend. After an almost three-month hiatus, Round 2 of the 2020 Premiership Season begun last night, Thursday 11 June, with Collingwood and reigning Premiers Richmond going right down to the wire, with neither side able to prevail resulting in our first draw of the season.

Friday night continues with one of the most heated and hard-fought rivalries in recent memory as Geelong host Hawthorn. Every time the two sides play, a classic is dished up, and we can’t imagine this one will be any different.

The game will be Brownlow Medalist Patrick Dangerfield’s 250th game, while coach Chris Scott hasn’t ruled out Jack Steven making his debut for the Cats after being admitted to hospital with a stab wound less than a month ago.

The remainder of the round sees four clashes on Saturday 13 June headlined by the Showdown between Adelaide and Port Adelaide in the 7.40pm AEST timeslot, before three Sunday matches.

The SA State Government have confirmed that approximately 2,000 fans will be permitted to attend the match, in what sporting fans across the nation will be hoping is a sign of things to come.

NRL

The first of Australia’s elite sporting competitions to return, the NRL, heads into Round 5 this weekend.

Fans have been treated to high intensity and fast-paced displays, with several understandably tiring players contributing to plenty of excitement.

The Eels are the only team to start the season with four wins, despite the Panthers and Knights also being undefeated after playing out a 14-14 draw in Round 3.

This coming weekend’s action was kicked off by the Sea Eagles last night, Thursday 11 June, knocking off the Broncos.

Arguably the match of the round sees Parramatta take on the Panthers in a primetime Friday night (12 June) clash, with both sides undefeated and sitting in first and third respectively.
