The Australian Boomers‘ road to the FIBA World Cup begins in Adelaide in just a few days time, with the NBL team taking on Japan at Titanium Security Arena.

The champion team will be hitting the court at 7pm on Monday night (27 November) for their first game in the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers.

The Boomers will compete in three windows over a home/away series through November to July 2018 in their first step towards the FIBA World Cup.

They’re expected to field a similar team that claimed the gold medal at the FIBA Asia Cup in August, finishing that tournament undefeated with six consecutive wins.

“This is the most exciting time to be a Boomers fan with more chances than ever before to see our national team in action,” said Basketball Australia CFO, Greg Hill.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring the Boomers back to Adelaide where they have a passionate supporter base and it will be the first time they have played in the city for almost a decade.”
