The Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season is almost halfway through, so let’s deep dive into where each team sits and their chances as we head into the backend of the campaign.

You can secure tickets to see Perth Glory, Newcastle Jets and Melbourne Victory this A-League season from Ticketmaster.com.au.

Who’s contending for the A-League championship?

Sydney FC are running away, dropping only five points (one draw and one loss) so far.

Melbourne City are their closest challenger, but it is unlikely anyone can stop Sydney from taking home the minor Premiership.

Perth Glory would be fancying their chances for a crack at the Championship once again, currently in a special run of form.

After falling at the final hurdle to Sydney FC in 2018/19, Perth were highly touted heading into this campaign. But a rocky start saw them with just six points from their opening seven matches, with only one win in that period.

A turn in fortunes has seen the Glory win their past four matches, scoring 14 goals in that time. A rich vein of form has reignited Championship discussions and they could once again be Sydney’s biggest threat.

Melbourne Victory are another team who appear to have kickstarted their season, picking up seven points from their past three matches.

Victory now sit just outside the six, and the flailing form of both Adelaide and Western United would give fans a flicker of hope for a potential fifth Championship title.
