Ticketmaster in pole position for motor sport ticketing

It would seem Ticketmaster has become the go-to ticketing agent for all high-octane, heart-thumping motor racing events in Australia.

Fresh from undertaking the enormous ticketing and event day access and box office requirements for the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide and the 2016 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, Ticketmaster has turned its attention to the MotoGP and the Australian FIM Speedway Grand Prix.

Ticketmaster’s annual event calendar is now dotted with four of the most significant motor racing events in the country. The year begins with the Clipsal 500 – one of the most anticipated events on the V8 racing schedule – and the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, which kicks off the season each year.

Later in the year rev heads converge on Phillip Island for the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, which this year takes place on October 21-23. Ticketmaster’s motor sports calendar also includes the Australian FIM Speedway Grand Prix, which will be held at Etihad Stadium for the second time in October 2016.

Each of the events are significant in their own right and each offer variety, which means Ticketmaster can offer motor sport fans a little bit of everything; Formula 1 and V8 Supercars for car racing enthusiast and Moto GP and Speedway for lovers of two-wheel racing.

Ticketmaster handled advance and event day ticketing for the Clipsal 500 for the first time in 2016. The event kicked off the V8 Supercar Championship and has a significant place in Australian motor sport. Ticketmaster is exceptionally proud to be associated with the South Australian Motor Sport Board and was delighted with the success of the four-day event.

The race itself was incredibly exciting with poor weather making it a major challenge for the drivers. Off the track, the crowds were loving it! Typically, the Clipsal 500 welcomes more than 250,000 spectators over four days. It is an enormous undertaking, but one that Ticketmaster embraced and delivered to the highest standard.

Similarly, the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix requires an enormous amount of planning and management to ensure the ticketing – both advanced sales and during the event – are seamless. The four day event attracts tens of thousands of spectators and getting them all through the gates is a massive team effort.

But even though those two major events are behind us, that doesn’t mean we can put the brakes on. Tickets are already on sale for Speedway at Etihad Stadium and the Moto GP.

The Moto GP is a three-day motor racing event a couple hours out of town, so it obviously requires a lot of planning and attention.

Etihad181The Speedway Grand Prix also requires plenty of attention from Ticketmaster, but in this instance it is really Etihad Stadium that has the biggest task to see the event take place. The incredible event and arena management teams at the roofed stadium somehow turn the playing surface into a motorcycle track for the event. Seeing the transformation in 2015 was truly breathtaking; seeing a motor cycle track in the middle of Etihad Stadium really has to be seen to be believed.

So if you are a lover of loud and exciting motor racing, Ticketmaster just became your one stop shop for all the hottest events in Australia. Get on board and get your fill of the amazing on track action as soon as you can!
