We speak with Eponine from Les Miserables

To celebrate the impending Sydney season of Les Miserables, we spoke to Kerrie-Anne Greenland, who plays Eponine to find out about the upcoming production. As one of musical theatre’s most-loved and celebrated characters, Eponine is a clear favourite for many Les Miserables aficionados. She is strong and brave and we found out that she is a really fun character to play.

Ticketmaster: Hi Kerrie Anne. You play Eponine in Les Miserables – she is such a strong character, do you love playing her?

Kerrie Anne Greenland: I absolutely love playing Eponine, she has such strength but also shows her vulnerability.

TM: The Melbourne season of Les Miserables has been hugely successful. Can you describe what the Sydney audiences are in for when they see the show?

KG: This new production is unlike anything audiences have seen before, with cinematic sound, sets and lighting the epic story feels as though it were written today, not over 150 years ago.

TM: Les Miserables is the longest running musical ever; have you seen it in other parts of the world?

KG: Unfortunately I haven’t been overseas at all, however, it is on my list as one of the musicals I must see when I do.

TM: What do you think it is about the production that has audiences coming back so often?

KG: Victor Hugo wrote that while ignorance and poverty persist on earth, books such as this cannot fail to be of value. The story is still relevant and moving, the characters are relatable and the music is timeless.

TM: If you could play any other character in Les Miserables, who would it be?

KG: Madame Thenardier would be a lot of fun, she is very scary, yet so funny.

TM: What do you consider the greatest moment in Les Miserables?

KG: The barricade has to be one of the most epic scenes on stage, ever.

TM: Thanks for joining us Kerrie Anne. All the best with the Sydney season of Les Miserables.
