Qantas Wallabies off to Flying Start

Qantas Wallabies off to Flying Start

The Wallabies have started their three game Castrol EDGE tour against France in perfect form, beating the visitors 50-23 at Suncorp Stadium.

The only downside of the victory was a season-ending knee injury to captain Stephen Moore. Openside flanker Michael Hooper will captain the side for the upcoming matches at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne and in Sydney.

Hooper becomes the 82nd Australian captain and at just 22 years of age he is one of the youngest to ever lead the Wallabies.

Coach Ewen McKenzie has been forced to make three changes to the squad due to injury. Moore (knee), Sam Carter (ankle) and Wycliff Palu (ankle) have made way for Tatafu Polota-Nau, Ben McCalman and James Horwill, who will celebrate his 50 game milestone if he plays at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

And fans of new Rugby cult hero Nick Cummins – aka the Honey Badger – are hoping he will get his hands on some more ‘meat’ during the Wallabies game at Etihad Stadium. The Western Force player has cemented his spot as winger in the Australian Wallabies following his debut for the national side in 2012 against Argentina.

We like to celebrate the big personalities in sport and the video below demonstrates that the Honey Badger is just that. Sit back and enjoy the ride!
