Make it luxe: what to expect from the VIP music festival experience

Treat yourself!

Enter a music festival and you’re in a universe unlike any other. Sometimes the sun is scorching, you might forget to wear an appropriate amount of sunscreen, your nostrils fill up with dust, and maybe if you’re camping you decide that bathing with wet wipes is easier than tackling the shower block. Fair enough. Other times the rain might be pouring and you’ve forgotten your poncho so it’s easier just to let loose and go with it. We’ve all been there.

But sometimes you want a little more. You want to feel extra special. Private toilet blocks. Special bars. Electricity. Nowadays, music festivals are going all out with their VIP experiences, and if the glam life is for you – even just for one day – it might just be worth the upgrade.

Let’s take a peek through some of the VIP offerings from some of our favourite music festivals.

A Day on the Green

Taking place at some of our favourite wineries right around the country, A Day On The Green is currently set to bring the likes of Rob Thomas, Elton John, A-HA, and Rick Astley to their gorgeous locations. Sitting out on the lawn, watching some of your favourite acts, possibly with a glass of red or white in-hand, already sounds like a pretty special experience to us, but with their concert and dining upgrade, your visit is set to be that little bit sweeter.

This ticket is an all-inclusive concert and hospitality package. You’ll have a seat away from the stage, in either the winery restaurant or a hospitality marquee, where you can enjoy an exclusive and relaxed dining setting while still enjoying all the tunes. Think delicious, gourmet food, private toilets, and a seat in a special, sectioned-off area.

Check out all the A Day On The Green dining events here. Make sure you select the event marked ‘dining’.

Bluesfest

Since 1990, Bluesfest has remained at the forefront of brilliant music festival experiences, and 2020’s five-day extravaganza is continuing their legacy. Dave Matthews Band, Crowded House, Patti Smith and her band, George Benson – that’s just the tip of a very stacked, festival-shaped iceberg. We love to add a little something extra to our festival experience, but if you’re only going to splurge on one, we reckon a five-day camping festival might be a good choice. You’ll get to hang out in the exclusive Bluesfest VIP lounge, where you can enjoy the best food and drink (including top-shelf spirits and wine, bottled craft and imported beers) and enjoy a dedicated VIP food stall and barista-made coffee. Yes, we’re going to repeat that. Barista-made coffee. Relax on comfortable lounges and have access to premium restrooms (which might just be the biggest treat at a camping festival). It’s the ultimate chill-out, secluded garden area, with LED screens showing all the main stage action.

Byron Bay Bluesfest 2020 will take over Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm in Byron Bay NSW from Thursday 9 April until Monday 13 April. Tickets are available via our mates at Moshtix.

Field Day

The only way to spend your Sydney New Years kick-ons in 2020 is at Field Day, and they’ve already dropped a huge lineup to make it worth your while. We’re talking Tyler, The Creator, Skepta, Disclosure, Eves Karydas, Glades. Look, it’s going to be huge. We reckon there might be a few sore heads popping up though, so maybe a little VIP extra might help dull the pain. You’ll get express entry into the festival, and then once you’re inside you’ll have access to an exclusive air-conditioned cocktail bar (because you know what they say about hangovers), two complimentary drinks, access to a special viewing platform, a stack of VIP toilets, comfy seating, free phone charging, and a cloakroom facilities. And when you’re surrounded by such kings and qweens, why wouldn’t you want to treat yourself to a little VIP goodness? We’re talking an express entry lane, dedicated VIP area with fancy loos, shade, and seating, a cloakroom, phone charging station, exclusive bar offering, and to top it all off – two drink cards. All the perfect ingredients to make sure you’re up and moving (and filling your Instagram friends/followers with actual FOMO) for the whole day.

Holy Green

We have been sweating with anticipation over the Holy Green lineup since it dropped last month. Not only are Brits Bastille leading the way, but they’ll be joined by The Jungle Giants, Meg Mac, Winston Surfshirt and a stack more, at the festival’s new home of Eaton Hills Outdoor in Queensland this January. We already like what we see, but a little added icing on the top never hurt anyone did it? That’s why we’ve got our eyes on Holy Green’s VIP tickets. Express entry means shorter lines in the beginning and a private cash bar means shorter lines throughout the day – because who has time to waste? Then there’s the air-conditioned VIP area for taking a break from all the musical heat, private toilets, and a lanyard because memories.

Holy Green will go down at Eatons Hill Hotel Outdoors in Queensland on Friday 25 January, 2020. Tickets are on sale now via our mates at Moshtix.

Land of Plenty

If you haven’t checked out the Land of Plenty lineup yet, let us assure you that it’s absolutely bonkers. The likes of Illy, Ocean Alley, Tones and I, Briggs, and more, are all heading out to regional Victoria for one heck of a day. Throw in some DJs, market stalls, carnival rides, and food trucks and we know exactly how we want to be spending our Cup Weekend. If you want to spice up your weekend a little, then take a bite out of this. Their Big Apple VIP pass is the ultimate music festival experience. Begin your day with express entry (because timing is everything) and a complimentary drink (because you’ve got to stay hydrated) before heading to the exclusive VIP village, where you’ll find a VIP bar, toilets, food, and that all-important shade.

Land of Plenty goes down at Shepparton Showgrounds, Victoria on Saturday 2 November. Tickets are on sale now via our mates at Moshtix.

Yours and Owls

If you haven’t checked out the 2019 Yours & Owls festival lineup, you are surely missing out. With headliners including Amy Shark, Courtney Barnett, and Golden Features, alongside some of our favourite up and coming acts from right around the country, Wollongong is the place to be. If you want to add a little something extra to your music festival weekend, look no further than the VIP Weekender Pass. The Y&O team are pulling out all the stops here – not only will you have a special, express entry lane to get you into the action quicker than anyone else, but you’ll also have access to the VIP Lounge located at the side of the main stage. If the exclusive VIP Bar wasn’t enough, there are also private toilets. That’s the kind of throne we want for the weekend.
