The Darkness announce 2020 Australia tour

Prepare your falsetto!

English rockers The Darkness have announced they will head Down Under in March 2020.

Best known for rock ‘n’ roll excess, decadence, and debauchery – as well as allowing us all to think we can hit the perfect high note when we perform ‘I Believe In A Thing Called Love’ at karaoke – The Darkness know a thing or two about putting on a show.

And now, with their freshly minted new album in hand, Easter Is Cancelled (due out Friday 4 October), they will once again make their way to Australian shores to do just that.

Last here for a run of festival and headline shows in 2017, prepare yourself for the ’80s-flavoured extravagance and unforgettable live presence that makes every The Darkness performance a magical experience.

The first taste of album number six is the freshly released ‘Rock and Roll Deserves to Die’ – a eulogy to the genre The Darkness hold so dear. It has been described as one of their most sonically exploratory tracks to date, bouncing between acoustic gloom and electric fire with ease. Commenting on the complacency and cookie-cutter sound of current rock music, more than anything The Darkness are here to teach us why we shouldn’t take ourselves so seriously.

“A lot of bands have relinquished their duty. Rock and roll is so uniform now,” Darkness bassist Frankie Poullain says of the track. “Everybody dresses the same, looks the same, sounds the same. It’s pathetic. It deserves to die. Let’s kill the cliché.”
