When we woke up this morning, we did not think we’d be ticking ‘Powderfinger reform’ off our 2020 bingo card but the Aussie rock legends have just announced a one-off charity show.

It has been a while between drinks…a whole decade in fact, but iconic Aussie rockers Powderfinger are tuning up and getting back on stage to bring a little happiness to fans during these challenging days.

The exclusive performance – titled One Night Lonely – will see the five band members perform from their respective home studios throughout Australia.

Bernard Fanning will plug in from Byron Bay, Ian Haug from the hinterland on Brisbane’s fringes, Darren Middleton from Melbourne, Jon Coghill from the Sunshine Coast, and John Collins in Fortitude Music Hall, the Brisbane venue he opened last year.

“The five of us have been meeting regularly over the past few months to organise some Odyssey Number 5 anniversary releases. The idea came up of playing together again in this unusual format which we all thought would be fun,” says the band.

“The past few months has been a very strange time for us all and difficult days for many. We really want to bring a smile to some people’s faces and along the way raise some funds to help our music industry mates and people who are currently experiencing mental health issues.”

As well as an incredible opportunity to see these legends perform together once more, the gig will also promote awareness for some very important charities, Beyond Blue and Support Act.

If you have the means, head here to make a donation. All donations will be split evenly between the two charities.

Powderfinger - These Days (Final Live Performance)

Powderfinger formed back in 1989 and released seven albums up until their split in 2010. Tracks like ‘My Happiness’, ‘These Days’,  and ‘Sunsets’ became the soundtrack for generation, and saw Powderfinger become one of the most successful Australian bands of all time.

As well as selling more than one million records, their trophy cabinet holds five number 1 albums and 18 ARIA Awards. They’ve appeared in triple j’s Hottest 100 an astounding 22 times (including two #1 spots)
