Lee Kernaghan – Boys From The Bush

You’d be hard pressed to find a song quite as iconic in the Australian country music scene as Lee Kernaghan’s Boys From The Bush. Back in 1993, the track topped the Australian country music charts, and helped his debut solo album The Outback Club win an ARIA award for Best Country Album, as well as ensuring Lee’s place as an Australian country icon. The track is a celebration of a way of life that connected with the hearts and minds of a younger generation of rural Australians – his music was country but it rocked.

The McClymonts – Like We Used To

Taken from their most recent album Endless, Like We Used To is pure The McClymonts – pop hooks mixed with country flair, but it also has an added electronic tinge that takes the trio’s sound to a whole new level.

Catherine Britt – Swinging Door

This is pure honky-tonk goodness thanks to Catherine Britt. Twelve years later and it still packs the same punch – it’s the perfect clapback to all the arseholes.

Matt Cornell – It’s Only Midnight

It was Adam Brand that set Sydney singer-songwriter Matt Cornell on the country music path. And we’re pretty lucky he did. In 2014, he was a CMC Music Awards New Oz Artist of the Year finalist, and in 2017 nominated for Male Artist Of The Year. The second single from his fourth album, It’s Only Midnight is all about the firsts in every relationship – that first kiss, the first time you hold hands, the excitement – and it’s everything you want in a love song.

Aleyce Simmonds – Only On My Terms

Aleyce Simmonds has accolades a mile long – with 7 Golden Guitar and 5 CMC Award nominations, as well as being named 2018 Golden Guitar Female Artist of the Year and winning the 2017 APRA Award for Country Work Of The Year. Taken from her 2017 album More Than Meets The Eye, Only On My Terms is the independent, power anthem we all need.

Casey Barnes – Be Mine

There’s no other way to describe Be Mine than as a joyous celebration of love. Combining pop and country elements, the track leads to one of the most gloriously upbeat choruses we’ve heard in a while. If you’re in love, celebrate it.

Montgomery Church – I’m Gonna Love Her All The Time

The second single from their debut record In the Shadow of the Mountain, I’m Gonna Love Her All The Time shows off the best bits of Montgomery Church’s folk, Americana, country and bluegrass sound. It’s warm and tender, stripped-back and simple, featuring gorgeous harmonies and the perfect banjo solo.
