With international touring currently halted, British singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas will celebrate the release of her self-titled album with a one-off solo live-streamed gig this July.

The self-titled release arrives five years after her sophomore album Blood and almost a decade after her Mercury Prize-nominated debut Is Your Love Big Enough.

La Havas’ 2020 started out strong, with a mind-blowing performance at legendary London venue the Barbican Hall alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra & Jules Buckley, as well as a super up-close-and-personal headline gig at the Moth Club, but the rest of her touring plans – including a show planned at London’s Roundhouse – were put on hold.

But thanks to some forward-thinking and a little bit of internet magic, La Havas can perform the show and bring it to fans right around the world and we don’t even need to leave our bedrooms.

Last in Australia in 2016 for a run of headline shows alongside a stadium support slot for Coldplay, this very special, multi-camera, one-off performance – which will feature songs from right across her catalogue – promises to showcase a whole new Lianne La Havas.

La Havas’ self-titled third album is due for release on Friday 17 July. Written following the end of a relationship, the album was inspired by the life cycle of nature and its ability to bloom, thrive, go away, and return even stronger. The record follows three vignettes – the first describes the early, joyous period a new relationship, the second focuses on the breakdown of the relationship, while the third revolves around the enjoyment and loneliness of being independent.

The recording of the album was initially unplanned, but following La Havas’ performance at Glastonbury 2019 her and her band entered the studio to work on a live version of Radiohead’s ‘Weird Fishes’. It was that experience that led La Havas to record her third album in a similar way, working on the album across London, Bath, and New York.

The album’s production was handled by La Havas alongside long-term collaborator Matt Hales, co-producer Beni Giles, and guest co-producer Mura Masa.
