Foo Fighters ready to rock Australia

Get ready Australia; the Foo Fighters are heading our way and they are ready to rock.

The rock superstars will hit our shores for a highly-anticipated tour in February and March 2015 and they are promising their biggest show yet, with special guests Rise Against.

Dave Grohl and co have not been in Australia since 2011. The Foo Fighters are the quintessential stadium rock group with hit after hit and incredible stage presence.

They will play stadiums in Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide and will play an intimate show in Tasmania at the Derwent Entertainment Centre. The Tassie show is a coup as the Foo Fighters have not visited the apple isle since 1998.

The tour announcement coincides with the release of the group’s eighth studio album, Sonic Highways, which promises to be one of the releases of the year.

Dave Grohl needs no introduction; as the drummer for Nirvana he made music history and left his mark on the world long before the Foo Fighters. But the creation of the band – post Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994 – has cemented Grohl as rock royalty.

The 11 time Grammy Award winners have a string of great hits including Monkey Wrench, Best of You, Learn to Fly, The Pretender and All My Life.

The Foo Fighters will kick off their tour with two performances in New Zealand before heading across to Australia. Melbourne’s Etihad Stadium will welcome 50,000-plus screaming fans for a Saturday night spectacle on February 28. The boys will also perform in Tasmania on March 2 and at nib Stadium in Perth on March 7.
