Covered19: Watching Aussie artists come together online
These Aussie artists are as wholesome as it gets, and we are loving seeing them all come together.
We’ve seen Italians singing on balconies, the Spanish playing tennis across apartment windows, and some of our favourite artists live streaming concerts to their fans on Instagram. Because in times of hardship – and right now, isolation – the world keeps on finding ways to come together.
And as is proven time and time again, most recently when pulling together to support those affected by Australia’s bushfires, our artists are really great at getting behind each other.
Enter the latest internet trend that has recently popped up – Covered 19. Here, local artists are covering one another’s songs and posting them on Instagram for our enjoyment.
We have spent a lot of time trawling the internet (and the hashtag, find it here) for research purposes, so we could bring you some of our absolute favourites.

Fan Girl
We love Melbourne indie-rockers Fan Girl, you would know that is you read this little interview. We also love Sydney-born Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Merpire, so how could we not be obsessed with this #Covered19 that brings together two of our favourite things? Also, there’s a really cute dog.

Hauskey
We wouldn’t have this fabulous trend without Sydney muso Hauskey. The talented multi-instrumentalist kicked things off by covering Eluera’s latest single ‘Good Girl’, and it is exactly the lush, warm, and fuzzy moment we need right now.
Tulliah
Flowerkid’s floating tune ‘Boy with the winfields and the wild heart’ hits right in the feels, but it takes on a whole new life in the hands of Mornington Peninsula singer-songwriter Tulliah’s hands. We have shivers.
Tay Piggott
Speaking of Tulliah, her beautiful debut single ‘Company’ was also given the #Covered19 treatment thanks to Melbourne singer-songwriter Tay Piggott. And well, we are falling in love with the song all over again.
Fergus James
Wow, wow, wow, Fergus James has gone and dived straight into a bowl of funk before pulling out this cover of Dulcie’s ‘Fall’ and we are so here for it.
IVEY
You are definitely, 100 percent, going to want to unwrap this absolute treat from two-fifths of Gold Coast alt-pop crew IVEY. They have given Death By Denim a little acoustic spin and all the heart eye reacts in the comments are mirror images of our face for the last hour.

Nancie Schipper
We love these little tag teams, because we’re also head over heels for Nancie Schipper’s cover of Ivey’s tune ‘Scream’. We love it as a bopping, glitchy, alt-pop groover but it also sounds wonderous stripped back just like this.
Stevan
We’ve already told you about Wollongong producer, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Stevan (read all about it here) and his absolute knack for writing creating woozy, dreamlike pop so it will come as no surprised that his take on this Benee gem is absolute bliss.
