Earlier this year we let you now that Green was bringing his latest City and Colour tunes to Brisbane’s Riverstage as part of this year’s Brisbane Festival but now we have word that the big man is returning to our shores in 2020.

City and Colour is set to close out Brisbane Festival with a special performance this Saturday 28 September, marking the first opportunity Australian fans have to hear tracks from his forthcoming sixth album, A Pill For Loneliness, before it is released next week.

Making this week even more exciting, now we can now start counting down the downs until Green returns to our stages in April 2020 armed with his first collection of original music in almost four years. With ARIA top tens spots for all three of his last studio albums, we expect big things from City and Colour’s next piece of work.

This year we’ve been given three tastes of A Pill For Loneliness in ‘Astronaut’, ‘Strangers’, and ‘Living In Lightning’ – the latter locked in as the record’s opening track. Speaking about the album, Green says, “I wrote a lot of dark songs and wrapped them in the most beautiful sounds we could find. There are personal connotations, but they’re also relatable. I’m thankful for the opportunity to create.”

Creating intimate vibes in even the grandest of settings, we can’t wait to see what City and Colour conjures up on his next visit.

Adding to the festivities, we also have word that Melbourne powerhouse Alex Lahey will also be along for the ride. 2018 saw her hit the international festival scene hard, gracing stages at the like of Falls, Splendour In The Grass, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, and Osheaga. In 2019, Lahey released her new album The Best Of Luck Club and ha spent much of the year taking it to stages around Australia and the US.
